Pre-existing medical condition cover

Planning a trip shouldn’t be stressful and that includes buying travel insurance, but for those who suffer with pre-existing medical conditions this isn’t always the case. Many insurers won’t cover pre-existing medicals conditions and those that do often band people with medical conditions together, charging higher premiums across the board; this isn’t how we work at Columbus Direct.

We look at individual cases, taking you through carefully worded questions so we can make sure we offer you a quote tailored to your needs. Our system covers a variety of medical conditions, some of which come at no extra cost.

How do I use online medical screening?

If you have a pre-existing medical condition and want to use our online quote process, follow our easy ‘How to’ guide.

  1. Click to get a quote

  2. At the bottom of the second page is a section titled Pre-existing medical conditions. Tick the box in this section.

  3. Click "proceed" to continue to the next page.

  4. Fill in the names and dates of birth for each individual and if you are declaring pre-existing medical conditions, click the “add” button. You’ll then be taken through to our Mediquote Expert™ system where you can enter your condition(s). Please note that all pre-existing medical conditions must be declared, and we can only cover you if all of your conditions are accepted.

  5. You will then be guided through the medical screening process, requiring you to answer carefully worded questions about your condition(s). Please follow the instructions on your screen. If you have finished declaring all pre-existing medical conditions, click "finish".

  6. Follow the onscreen instructions and you will be provided with your quote. If you’re happy with the quote, you can then purchase your travel insurance policy online.
